LDAPknifeLDAPknife is a command line program for handling entries in an LDAP directory. Its versatility resembles a Swiss army knife, thus the name. LDAPknife can do searches and listings, as well as modifications, on a large number of entries at a time. It can easily be used for scripting, too.
LDAPknife was originally created for the Helsinki City Education Department, which owns the copyright. It can be modified and distributed freely under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
LDAPknife is written in Python. It requires version Python 2.2 or later, and the python-ldap library. LDAPknife has a built-in user manual, which can be accessed with option -M (--manual); it is also directly downloadable below. On Linux and Unix systems it is usually sufficient to place the ldapknife program in the search path (for example, in /usr/local/bin/) and to set execution privileges on it.
